‘Tourism in the Americas’ Call for Papers

Call for Papers: “Tourism in the Americas” Workshop

Americas Research Group, Newcastle University

This one-day workshop aims to fill a gap in the current scholarly debate about tourism in the Americas and to engender interdisciplinary and inter-regional discussion of tourism in the Americas in a friendly, informal environment. We welcome papers that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

–        Development, neo-liberalism and emerging alternatives
–        Sustainable development and environmental protection
–        Social justice and exclusion
–        Place-making and cultural transformation
–        Cultural revival and preservation
–        Heritage
–        Mass tourism and alternative tourism
–        Mega-events, tourism and development
